Adding to the
Drug database
The Drug List is part of the PickList User
database. From
the main menu of PickList User click on the
button to get to
the this list. You can also get to the list by clicking on the Drug
Database button at the top of the patient's medication list. Below is a sample of some of the medications in
list view.
The Toggle View button changes the
view to
show more information about the medication record you are currently in.
A similar view is used when you create a new record.
- To start a new record click the New
button.
- To print the current list click Print
- To delete the current set of medications click Delete
Set (be careful, undoable!). This does require you to enter the
delete or administrator password.
- Click Find to search for a medication.
The fields are as follows:
- Drug
Name is for the
non-generic name of the medication, if available. If the medication
record is a generic to begin with, use the generic name instead.
- In Generic Name
(unknown) is the starting value. If you know the generic name
replace (unknown) with the generic name (see above).
- In Form select from the
list
how this medication is packaged.
- The Location of Use is
where the drug is to be used.
- In Dosing Adult and Dosing Peds enter the most
common dosing schedules that you use for this medication. Each entry
must be on a separate line, as seen above.
- In Indications select
from the pop-up list or
carefully type in a new entry. This entry is used by the medication
selector in the Patients Module.
- In Usual Rx Size enter
each available strength for this
medication. Each entry must be on a separate line, as seen above.
- In Available Doses
enter each available dosage for this
medication. Each entry must be on a separate line. The example above
has only one entry "0.3%".
- The fields Drug Interactions,
Adverse Reactions, Contraindications/Cautions and Mechanism of Action
are for information only.
